The challenge of confusing leadership with other related disciplines-- politics, governance, management and administration. Politics from the Greek word, politikos- the art of administering a state and her citizens. Management--execution of functions, activities and programmes based on strictly stipulated rules… The key performance indicator for management is the efficiency with which the operations are executed to bring about stability- using rules, policies and procedures.

The whole essence of management is to exert control, even for a very short time. Leadership, management and governance strive to achieve the public good. Governance creates awareness of the value of good service delivery, empowerment and sustainability, with metrics for objective evaluation. Governance reflects aspects of leadership.

Good governance reflects in respect for people, distribution of wealth, human capital development, creation of the enabling environment, effectiveness and efficiency. Effectiveness and efficiency reflect in professionalism, standardization and quality delivery.
